The following is a basic list of the possible offenses and the standard punishments here on Candyland Couture. Keep in mind that the offenses and punishments are not limited to what is listed here, this is simply an outline for you, the members, to review and understand to clear up any confusion and avoid future “surprises” should you find yourself in a situation listed below.
Advertising Through PM/the Chatbox
Whether it’s posting a link to your site in the chatbox to send to a friend or sending a link to another member, inviting them to join your own role play or resource site unprompted, just don’t do it. It is listed in the site rules as being a violation; we will catch you and you will be PMed about it.
Tutorial Graphics in Challenges
This is a minor thing that is still considered a problem on resource sites. For challenges, the work you submit has to be 100% your own, not taken from or inspired by someone else. Our wonderful graphics staff will notice and alert you that you must change your entry or you run the risk of being disqualified.
Failure to Credit in Galleries/Missing Ratings & Trigger Warnings
Almost every resource forums, if not all, require you to have a list of credits in your graphics gallery, linking to all the sites (such as DeviantArt) you took your resources for your graphics from. On Candyland, we strictly enforce this rule. If you do not provide a credits list, you will be contacted. You’re not expected to whip up a full list immediately; just put up a starter and work on it as you go. As well, you have to provide a rating and any trigger warning in ALL applicable writing pieces. If you fail to do so, you will be contacted by a Writing Moderator and asked to add them. This is simply to protect any sensitive members that might be reading through our writing library.
Minor Behavioral Issues
All members are expected to conduct themselves in a friendly and mature manner and when this slips, you will be contacted about this. Incidences such as excessive cursing in the chatbox, passive aggressive behavior, rude comments in the chatbox or threads, or any other minor behavioral offense will result in a PM from a staff member.
All theft and plagiarism falls into the category of Level Two Offenses. This includes partial or complete ripping of a code, ripping of tutorial and/or premade graphics, plagiarism in writing, and even the copying of tutorials.
Slander and harassment are also Level Two offenses. If you go out of your way to harass another member on the site, whether it be in the chatbox, PM, in IM about Candyland, or a combination of the three, this is considered harassment. The spreading of rumors and lies also falls under the category of “slander”, whether it be about an individual, a group of people, a site, or a company. Bashing other sites is also a big “no”; Candyland was founded on community, not gossip.
The discussion or mention of security issues that are currently being brought up in the public arena is also strictly against the rules. For example, if you just reported Member A for stealing Member B's code, don’t tell Member C in the chatbox about it. No matter how little or big you think the issues is, it is still a matter of security and is inappropriate to be mentioned.
In the same realm of things, if a staff member tells you to please do something or please not do something, listen to them. Do not “back talk”, “sass”, or argue with them, especially not in the chatbox or forums. Even in PM, it is inappropriate. Unless they are being degrading and legitimately unprofessional towards you, you must respect them and their given authority. If you have a problem with a staff member, come straight to the Administrators about it—don’t sass them.
All of the above issues will result in a security discussion, a PM sent to you with what you were in trouble for and instructions on how to amend the situation. Depending on the offense, you will receive a deadline to fix what was wrong and if you argue or do not meet the requirements, further punishment will be given on a case by case basis.
All of the following offenses will result in an immediate ban of your account, all IPs attached, and your e-mail, absolutely no questions asked.
The impersonation of a staff member of either Candyland Couture or another site or member in general is strictly forbidden and rides on the line of a federal offense. “Identity theft” is a serious crime and is punishable by law. Just don’t do it. In the same realm of things, the release of personal and/or staff information is of the same level of seriousness and also a very severe crime.
Any attempts to hack or “infiltrate” the site are also grounds for immediate banning. This should be a no brainer but it is still, unfortunately, an issue that sites face.
Site-wide public disturbances are also givens, but again it must be said. This includes repeated posting of negative comments/harassment in the chatbox and/or forums, any attempts to work around our site deletion policy (such as editing all content to blank messages and/or snarky messages), and any other spam or disturbance.
And finally, if you are a culprit of doing Level One and Two offenses time and time again, it is safe to say that you will find yourself in a situation staring at a ban in the face. Take these things into consideration before acting.
